Local group-activity in the UK

Since its debut in 2010 the Light of Love movement in the UK, but more precisely in Wales, has almost 70 community members – some of us are Welsh-born, some are in-comers, and there members who live in different parts of the United Kingdom. Due to our geographical spread, we do not yet have a local Centre, our fellows live scattered in the mountainous and hilly countryside, which makes it difficult to meet and come together.

In spite of this we manage to keep in touch with each other

  1. Through our internal monthly newsletter:
The newsletter sent out electronically  contains news both locally and from Hungary, has members personal reports and experiences, book recommendations and new initiatives, besides inspirational ideas and thoughts for our path etc,
  2. In our group sessions:
We have three active circles in North, South and Central Wales. We meet every month, share our experiences, news, schedule meetings, talk about a major topic or a book, and give Light of Love treatments to each other. The size of the circle varies from time to time, depending on when, how & who is available. These meetings provide an opportunity to get to know each other better, to share in our on-going individual processes and the difficulties and joys that happen to us. An important element of our meetings is tea cakes and our ‘Bring & Share’ meals together.

We welcome friends and family who are interested, to visit our more social meetings, to get to know us better, to experience the path we take, and see for themselves the spirituality we represent. We might watch a movie or discuss our experiences, or do something creative – sing, make arts and crafts, work with clay or draw. Sometimes we play a ‘get to know yourself’ board game like ‘The Transformation Game’, which gives us the opportunity both to get to know ourselves and others more deeply. Joint excursions and hikes also bring us closer to each other. We often hold “Pamper Days” as well, giving treatments, meditating, relaxing, or exercising. We do all this, from our own resources, either human or financial, because we are very happy to be together.

  1. Annual Welsh Gathering in September:

A small group of active members are responsible for organizing this annual meeting. Launched in 2016, a small but enthusiastic group gathered, and the event has each year gradually grown in popularity. Companions who live far away come to this celebration with their family members and friends. These inspiring and energizing annual meetings create an opportunity to develop ourselves and our community. The whole weekend event thereby has become an inspiring and energizing boost for the coming year. We feel blessed to be able to always count on the generous support of our fellows from Hungary.

One of the consequences of this extended celebration was the idea to create a closer connection and deepen the work, by having more regular visits from our colleagues from Hungary. In March 2020 we greatly benefitted from our first richly motivating programme, which is now planned as a regular feature 2 or 3 times a year. These inputs offer more intensive learning and development opportunities to members in the UK, but goal is not only the development of individuals, but also the creation of a more active community life despite the great geographical distances.
